Grocery Store Tips

11/17/2016

We have had a lot of people asking for tips about our nutrition, what we eat and what we buy. We thought it was a good idea to give you some tips about grocery shopping!

  1. Stay around the outside of the store. All the healthy food is found around the perimeter, your fruits, veggies, proteins and dairy. The centre isles are the less than healthy items. The only thing we buy from the isles are oats (minute oats), rice cakes and tuna.
  2. Avoid cans, bags and boxes. Nothing good comes from any of these three containers and often they are foods that are "instant" and are full of preservatives. These take away from the fresh foods our body needs. The only can item we buy is tuna.
  3. Avoid root vegetables (veggies which grow in the ground). These are harder to digest therefore sit in your system longer.
  4. Less dairy consumption is better. Some is good for your body but remember it is high in fat and loaded with sugar. Next time you are in the dairy isle check the sugar contents of milk, yogurt, cheese. Even the milk substitutes such as almond milk and soy milk are very high in sugar.
  5. Watch your sugar intake. Sugar is the new cocaine. Studies have shown the sugar is so refined and is very addictive. Watching your sugar intake will aid in your weight loss journey. Eg: salad dressing sugar contents should be at 1-2 grams.

These are tips which will help you towards "eating clean"

We hope you find these tips helpful and if you have any questions please leave them in the comment section below

Thanks
